Linux For All ???
"Could Linux be used by everyone?" This was the question I always asked myself. I used to think Linux was unfriendly, and not a good idea for beginners, but that opinion changed today. I've been using the Windows Os for over 10 years now and made me master virtually all that I know about computing with so much ease. All of a sudden I decided to do something crazy and I got myself Red hat and installed. It gave me tough time since I had no one to help me out. But I managed to install it and felt disappointed after it completed, as it was boring to me.
After months, I started getting the hang of it, but only used it occasionally. Then this morning after waking up, and carrying out the necessary tasks, I decided to explore my Linux OS on my other HD. So I installed KDE and found my self experimenting until my entire environment looked better than Ms Windows Xp. Although I run Red hat version 9 which is quite old, it was beautiful. For the first time I didn't want to leave the Linux environment, I was getting addicted to it. All those nice cool stuff such as crystallized icons, transparency etc, I found it free on my Linux machine.
I know people from
Naira land might be surprised that this is coming from me. As if that wasn't enough, I got a solution to what really ties me down to the windows platform, mobile phone management only for me to find Kmobile tools what more could I want. Now I can connect to the web via my Motorola L6 with Kmobile tools. Also for gamers you aren't left out. A very big advantage the windows pc has over that of Linux is the ability to offer wide range of games for its customers. As at now virtually all the pc games I know is made for windows, but there is a solution now, it’s called Wine or WineX. It runs on your Linux system thereby giving it the environment to run windows games and even applications in your Linux environment.
And when it comes to stability and security Linux still rocks. Hardly does the pc crash unlike windows where internet explorer hangs with pleasure. Now my pc is being attacked by all sort of malware about 170 of them and since I have been using Linux there hasn’t been any threat. It’s been totally stable. Am not saying it doesn’t have its own Bugs it has but not as glaring as that of Ms Windows.
Now am considering upgrading to Ubuntu, I saw the some potentials in it. Probably this weekend I might just do that. Don’t be scared of trying the Linux OS out, it not only for gurus or geeks, it’s for everyone. Ubuntu says Linux for human beings. So its time to try it out.
